RETREAT AT COBBLESTONE SPRINGS
Nineteen people from St. Luke’s participated at a retreat that we held last May at a center in Honeoye Falls. That experience was so great, we are offering another retreat experience this Fall!
On Saturday, October 21, we will gather in the St. Luke’s parking lot at 8:20 a.m. to carpool to Cobblestone Springs, a wonderful retreat center in Dundee, NY south of Geneva. Our retreat will take place
from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and will focus on learning how to pray in dif-ferent ways. Sr. Anne Alderman, SSJ will lead us. Cost of the retreat is $15 and includes lunch. To register, let Deven know that you would like to attend or call the Church office. Checks can be made payable to St. Luke’s with “Retreat” on the memo line.
RUMMAGE SALE - HELP NEEDED!!!
ST. LUKES FALL RUMMAGE SALE – HELP NEEDED
St. Luke’s FALL RUMMAGE SALE PREPARATION AND INTAKE, Oct 22nd through Oct 25th, 2017.
The St. Luke's Fall Rummage Sale will take place Oct 26 - Oct 28, with setup beginning Sunday Oct 22.
How can you help?
First, save and bring items to be sold. Clothing, household goods, books, toys-almost anything except large furniture and old-style TV’s and old-style computer monitors (CRT) because we have to pay to recycle them when they don’t sell.
Second, help with setup and pricing on Sunday through Wednesday.
Third, help on the days of the sale, with checking people out, taking money, straightening out merchandise, and carrying items to cars (great to have a couple men for this!) Finally, after the sale ends at noon on Saturday, come to help clean up by delivering unsold goods to our shed or to Goodwill, picking up sale signs, breaking down cardboard boxes and returning the Great Hall to Sunday shape. There will be a signup sheet, or just stop by when you can. Many hands make the jobs easier, so please do what you can to help the Rummage Sale make its budget requirement of $2,500. If you have questions, or suggestions, contact any team member.
Thank you! Marti St. George, Cathy Thayer, and Mary Jo Hazelden (your Rummage Sale Team).

RAIHN HOSTING AT ASSUMPTION
RAIHN is the Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network. RAIHN provides food and shelter to families with children who would otherwise be homeless. Several area churches around Rochester provide sleeping quarters for up to five families. Each host church provides this help for one week.
Currently, the rotation period is about 13 weeks. The families are served dinner at the host church and spend their days at the RAIHN day center (or at school or work). St. Luke’s is a “support parish” for our local host, Church of the Assumption in the village of Fairport. We serve dinner and provide other volunteer tasks on the Tuesday and Wednesday during the rotation. Food is usually provided by the volunteers and prepared at home, and there are some resources for additional food or supplies. Usually, six or eight volunteers spend the evening at CotA, and one volunteer spends the night. A few more volunteers drop off food. The families sleep in private rooms (classrooms and meeting
rooms) on the lower level. CotA has a nice kitchen, and the gym is usually available for playtime after dinner.
If you’re interested in volunteering or providing part of a meal, please contact Gary Gocek at 585-747-1588 or email@example.com. RAIHN is a non-profit organization that accepts tax-deductible
donations, see raihn.org.
The second evening we provide dinner and fellowship to RAIHN quests at Assumption.
